Hilton Doubletree Kuala Lumpur
We arrived atĀ KLĀ sentral with every intent on staying at one of the adjacentĀ hotels. Unfortunately I had transferred points from my Amex to SPG for a couple nights only the night beforeĀ and last minute rates were poor value.Ā It usually takes around 24 hours so decided to wait the 30 mins and get a snack. Still no points transferred… Had to start considering other options, like paying cash! The Hilton Doubletree in Kuala Lumpur has always been a very good value option, particularly points + cash. AĀ search of Hilton’s site and thisĀ was still the case.
I’d only heard good things about the Doubletree here but had not yet been able to stay there. So that alone was a good enough reason to book it for the night.Ā Booked a standard room but was given a club room.
TheĀ hotel is located inĀ Vista Tower, part of the Intermark development off theĀ Middle Ring Road 1. Easy to get to by car andĀ semi-connected to public transport. From Ampang Park train station you can walk through Ampang Park mall and across a pedestrian bridgeĀ to The Intermark. The building itselfĀ is the typical modern development containing aĀ hotel, various offices and shoppingĀ outlets on the ground floor. The hotel lobby is one floor up with an escalator from the entrance. Being perpetual a Hilton Honors Gold member, we were escorted to the club lounge upon checking in.Ā It’s one of those things I feel sometimes would be easier if they could check you in immediately.
The lounge itself was very open, clean and well stocked, but mostly surrounded by other skyscrapers. We were upgraded to a club room after booking a standard room. Nothing much but we would enjoy the loungeĀ later during the evening session.
The room itself was pretty standard. One of theseĀ designs with a window between the bed and shower/bathroom. Some hate it but I appreciate the ability to allow natural light in if desired.
We did get a great view from the room window.

Complementary evening snacks and cocktails were served in the executive club lounge which we always take advantage of.
Breakfast the following morning was alsoĀ provided in theĀ lounge, but we optedĀ for theĀ restaurant downstairs instead, which usually provides better variety at expensive of privacy. The Makan Kitchen restaurantĀ provides a wide buffet of cuisines. We found the food great but someĀ food was not being restocked and it was overly hectic down there. Should have stuck with the lounge.
Just a one night’s stay but its worth going back to, particularly with if you have aĀ few Hilton points to spare. Not the most accessible area for us but would be great if you have business in the district.
